The Crespo Family | Golden Ponds Nature Area Family Photos | Colorado Family Photographer
Can you all believe that it’s June already? This year has flown by so fast and it’s hard to keep track of where the time has gone but I’ve already had the pleasure of photographing many different families and events over the past 6 months.
One of those families is the Crespo Family from Longmont, Colorado. I was contacted by Habitat for Humanity of the St. Vrain Valley to do a family portrait session for this amazing family of 7. Habitat for Humanity has a volunteer program where a photographer can gift a complimentary portrait session to one of their families. Once the family’s house is finished there will be a dedication ceremony where they will receive a canvas print of one of the portraits from the session. This is one of the many things that I can volunteer for and help give back to the community. Plus I get to meet some fun families in the process.
We did their family portrait session at the beginning of April, and as we all know, that’s still winter here in Colorado. The weather can change in an instant and we ended up delaying the session for an additional week due to snow. We also had a few changes in the location but ended up at Golden Ponds Nature Area in Longmont. I really like this park because of the waterfall feature and trees that line the river are. The day of the portrait session ended up being very nice (no snow) but windy which made it a little more challenging. With 5 kids running around, it was challenging to get them all to sit still together. Their oldest daughter, Andi, really wanted to include their two dogs in the portraits as well. So towards the end of the session we got several shots of her and the pups. I really like it when people include their pets. They’re just as much a part of the family as everyone is. In the end, I think they all had a good time and we got some very nice portraits of everyone. Keep scrolling to check out their family portrait session.
