Kelli & Jason | The Ranch Country Club Wedding | Colorado Wedding Photographer
As the saying goes: You can’t make new old friends. It’s true… but you know what you can make? New memories with old friends!
That’s exactly the sentiment that surrounded my time photographing Kelli and Jason’s wedding at The Ranch Country Club in Westminster, CO. Kelli and I have been friends since middle school, she’s my sister’s bestie, and if that’s not enough – Jason and I were in the same class at Broomfield High School – Class of ‘99!
When I met with the couple to discuss their engagement session, three things were for certain: Kelli and Jason love being active, the game of golf, Slurpees (see the 7/11 wedding date), and each other. I knew their wedding day on the links was going to be incredible – boy was I right.
The couple chose The Ranch Country Club as their locale as it is a special location for Kelli. Her family has belonged to the country club for many years and Kelli spent a lot of her childhood swimming at the pool, learning to play golf on the course, and walking the greens.
Fun Fact: I play in the Women’s League of Eagle Trace Golf Club, the main golf course in Broomfield, as does Kelli’s mom, Marcia. While I knew this, we had never actually met until after Kelli booked me for her wedding. Bonus!
Because of the ongoing pandemic, Kelli and Jason’s had a significantly scaled-down wedding. It also happened to be one of the hottest summers in recent memory so they opted to erect a shade tent to keep everyone comfortable in the mid-July heat. Even with a paired-down guest list, you could see how much it meant to the couple to have their closest friends and family there to celebrate with them. Family is a major cornerstone in this couple’s world.
I got quite a laugh when the DJ announced Kelli and Jason into the reception to Guns N’ Roses “Welcome to the Jungle”. It just so happens this was the theme song of our high school basketball team. Every game, the varsity team would come running out of the locker room and circle the gym a few times to this classic jam.
Despite the summer heatwave, their beautiful wedding cake stayed intact…that is until Kelli smashed it in Jason’s face. Qué será, será!
After dinner had started, I snuck Jason and Kelli off for sunset photos. The mountains made for a stellar background. We couldn’t have asked for a better ambiance to kick off the evening. Honestly, these are some of the most epically gorgeous sunset images I’ve ever shot.
When all was said and done, the bride insisted I stay and enjoy the celebration. It was a blast hanging out with such wonderful humans on a beautiful night. It’s a pleasure when clients become friends, but even better when friends become clients.
Congratulations, Kelli and Jason!

Thanks for the memories Jennifer,

Thank you so much for the compliment. It was such a fun wedding despite the limitations we had last year and can’t wait to meet the newest addition to the family soon. 🙂
