Rachael & Wes | Washington Park & Irish Rover Pub Wedding | Colorado Wedding Photographer
Rachael & Wesley’s early summer wedding that was held at Washington Park & Irish Rover Pub in Denver, Colorado was one of those memorable moments from 2016. It has been an amazing year for me when it comes to my career and photography. It’s been a great privilege and honor to be able to be a part of many people’s lives and helping them preserve memories that they will always cherish.
Everything about Rachael & Wes’ big day was perfect and went off without a hitch, including the weather. The days leading up to the wedding were cloudy and rainy and since the ceremony was going to held outside we were hoping that it would clear up some. Thankfully, the weather cooperated and it ended up being a beautiful, sunny day which is amazing for a park wedding.
I met up with Rachael and her bridesmaids at the hotel they were staying and getting ready at. Like all brides and bridesmaids getting ready, it was a little chaotic. One of the things I try to do during this time is to capture small details that most people probably wouldn’t think is important. As insignificant as they might seem at the time, you’d be surprised by how many emotions those wedding details evoke when looking back through your wedding photos. They say your wedding day will be a blur (this I know from personal experience) and the images that I capture will let you re-live those moments.
Once everyone was ready we traveled to Washington Park which was a quick 10 minute drive. Like I said previously, the weather ended up being beautiful and very sunny. Washington Park in the summer can be so amazing. The city does an excellent job with the gardens surrounding the ceremony area and the park in general. If you haven’t seen it when it’s in full bloom, I highly suggest you take a trip down there.
Rachael & Wes decided to keep with tradition and not do a first look before the ceremony. You could definitely see the happiness and love they felt when they saw each other for first time. One of the fun things that I enjoyed about this wedding was Rachael’s family choice of attire. Everyone in the family wore a brightly colored Hawaiian shirt keeping with the laid back vibe that Rachael wanted for their wedding.
After a lovely ceremony, which included a shot of the entire wedding, we headed to the Irish Rover Pub in Denver for a night of fun and celebration. This is a great venue for a smaller wedding and it has a great mix of industrial and traditional architecture. I loved the beautiful wood bar and the exposed brick walls (which is perfect for a photo booth setup). The whole front of the pub can also be opened up to let in the outside air and great atmosphere of the South Broadway neighborhood. There were a lot of great details about this wedding, from the flowers, to the decorations, and even to the home-made cheesecakes made by Rachael’s mom. The entire night was a blast to be a part of – everyone was having the time of their lives.
Thank you again, Rachael & Wes, for inviting us to photograph your Wash Park and Irish Rover wedding – it was an honor to be a part of your incredible wedding day. I wish nothing but the very best for the two of you.
