I’m so excited to share with everyone a “styled shoot” that I participated in back in November. It was put on by a great group called Styled Stories who specialize in putting together family and child photo shoots. It’s a great way to get some practice in, meet and network with fellow photographers and do some portfolio building. I try to attend a few throughout the year. One thing I’ve learned in photography is that you can never stop learning and trying new things.

The theme of this shootout was “Mommy & Me” and since it was specifically themed for Mothers, there were no men involved (except for the kiddos). We had four groups of models that we all got to spend time with; a nursing mama, a maternity mama, a little boy mama, and a little girl mama. Bonus: Both the maternity mama and little girl mama happened to be pregnant and have their adorable little girls with them. So I got to double up on the maternity and little girl photos. 🙂

The shoot took place at Standley Lake in Westminster, CO which is such a great place for portrait sessions. It’s a true gem within the city and as you’ll see has some spectacular scenery with a great view of the mountains and who says we don’t have beaches in Colorado. We had unusually warm weather this past November and December so it was great not having to worry about the kiddos getting cold or having to wear jackets at all. Each of the photographers involved in the shootout were paired off. We then split up and got to spend about 20-30 minutes with each group while rotating to different areas of the lake.

I really enjoyed this styled shoot and got some great images.
