As a Clear Creek History Park Family Photographer doing an extended family shoot can be challenging but also a lot of fun. I got to photograph the super nice Lee Family in the fall which included the parents, siblings, spouses and grand-children. A total of 11 family members.
When I photograph extended family photos, it’s usually good to have a strategy. This is because it can get quite chaotic with large groups. I like to get a large group shot first and then I move to the individual family units. For example any husband/wife/kid combinations.
We did their family photos at Clear Creek History Park in historic Downtown Golden. This is one of my go-to locations because it has a bunch of cute, historic buildings right next to the Golden Hotel. I especially love it during the fall because the river is low enough that you can get really close to the water, which is exactly what we did at the end of the session.
