Lauren & Taylor | Lost Gulch Overlook & Chautauqua Park Engagement Session | Colorado Engagement Photographer
I CAN NOT with Lauren & Taylor’s engagement photos. Can we all take a moment to admire the view here? I mean, the scenery is great and all… but have you seen a more beautiful couple? Sheesh!
Once upon a time, before the pandemic shut the world down, I met Lauren when I was exhibiting at the Denver Wedding Expo (February 2020). Five months later, she contacted me to talk about an engagement session. Just like everyone else planning their wedding in 2020, she was in the process of adapting the event into a small, intimate gathering of their closest family and friends.
Since it was a mere two months before their actual wedding day, we didn’t have a lot of time to plan their engagement session, but in a serendipitous twist of fate, I was available the day Lauren was going to do a trial run of her ceremony hair and makeup. We planned to get together, to not only do some engagement photos, but to also plan out locations for their wedding day.
We met up at Lost Gulch Overlook. The weather was fantastic, allowing us to capture some of those classic, breathtaking Colorado views. (Photographer’s Note: This is one of my favorite photos from the day. You can clearly see Taylor’s love for Lauren as he helps her across the terrain.)
Afterwards, we moved down the mountain and made a quick stop at Sunrise Amphitheater, a rustic, stone stage venue that overlooks Boulder. Next, we stopped by the Flagstaff House (their wedding venue) so they could walk me through how their ceremony was going to be laid out.
We wrapped up the session at the base of the mountain at Chautauqua Park. When the weather took a turn for the worse and it began to rain, Lauren & Taylor took advantage of the moment and we got some incredibly romantic images of them “dancing in the rain”. (Trust me, the way these images symbolise what it takes to maintain a successful relationship was not lost on me in the moment, nor is it lost on me now.)
Taking Lauren & Taylor’s engagement photos was a total blast. I think I can say we all left feeling on top of the world ….
…see what I did there? 😉
