Kellie & Brian | Boettcher Mansion Wedding | Colorado Wedding Photographer
Happy June Everyone! As a Boettcher Mansion & Colorado Wedding Photographer, I can’t believe how fast this year has already gone by. I’ve been so busy with life that I’ve had a hard time keeping up. Along with renovating, selling, buying, and moving to a new house, wedding season is in full swing and I’m now just trying to get back to catching up on things.
Before I head out for a wedding today, I really wanted to share another wedding that I was privileged to be a part of last August. Kellie & Brian’s wedding at Boettcher Mansion in Golden, Coloradowas an amazing event. They had a lot of nice, personal touches throughout the wedding and her dad definitely made me cry during his toast.
The day started out with me meeting Kellie & her bridesmaids at Table Mountain Inn, a southwestern style hotel in Downtown Golden, Colorado. That’s where they were getting their hair and make-up done and just hanging out before the big event. Once they were ready, all of us headed to Lookout Mountain so they could get a few shots together on the way to the venue.
Once at the mansion, Kellie & her “Squad” hid out in the Bridal Suite while the guys started arriving. If you’re not familiar with Boettcher Mansion, it’s a historic mansion nestled at the top of Lookout Mountain and only about a half-hour drive west of Denver. Originally built in 1917, it served as the summer home of Charles Boettcher, a successful Colorado businessman. In 1984 it was listed on the National Register for Historic Places and has become one of Denver’s premier event venues.
The ceremony went off without a hitch and even included a unique element of a German Wedding Cup and it was something I enjoyed witnessing. This is how the story goes.
Centuries ago a noble mistress fell in love with a young and ambitious goldsmith. However, her wealthy & powerful father did not approve. He challenged the young goldsmith to make a chalice from which two people can drink at the same time without spilling one single drop. If he could then the nobleman would allow the goldsmith to marry his daughter.
The young goldsmith rose to the challenge and sculpted a girl with a smile as beautiful as his own true love’s. Her skirt was hollowed to serve as a cup. Her raised arms held a bucket that swivels so that it could be filled and then swung towards a second drinker.
The challenge was met. The goldsmith and the nobleman’s daughter joined hands in marriage. To this day the chalice remains a symbol. Love, faithfulness and good luck await the couple who drink from this cup.
The rest of the night was just as magical as the beginning with some great food provided by Biscuits & Berries. The mashed potato bar was “AH-MAZ-ING”!! Instead of traditional cake, they opted to have some cute little cake pops made by Bittersweets Bakery and hand scooped ice cream from Little Man Ice Cream. I loved that Little Man scooped ice cream out of their custom made bicycle.
Congratulations Kellie & Brian! Thank you for including me in your celebration and I wish nothing but many, happy years of marriage for your future.
P.S. If you haven’t seen their amazing Sloan’s Lake and Downtown Denver Engagement Session, go do that here.
