Best Wedding Photos of 2019 | Colorado Wedding Photographer
Two Thousand and Nineteen (2019) has just ended and the start of a new decade has just begun. I can’t believe we’re heading in the Twenty Twentie’s (2020’s) and I can’t help think about everything that has happened in the past year. It’s definitely been a year for the books and I can’t think of a better year to end the Twenty Teen’s (is that how it’s referenced?)
A Record Breaking Year!
First off, I have been absolutely blessed and so grateful that I get to do what I love for a living. This past year I was finally able to go into photography full time and have loved every part of it. It was only a few years ago that I was seriously doubting if I was even good enough to do this for a living and was at a major crossroads in my career. However, due to certain circumstances I was more or less forced to start this full time. I was both excited and terrified wondering if I could manage to create a successful business. Well not only did I manage to make a living but I also shot more weddings, engagement sessions and portrait sessions this year than I’ve ever done in the past. I was also blessed to get to shoot with some amazing colleague’s at some of the most amazing venues such as Wedgewood Mountain View Ranch, Black Canyon Inn, Mile High Station, Shupe Homestead, Cielo at Castle Pines, The Oxford Hotel, and The Lodge at Breckenridge.
2019 By The Numbers
Between my personal clients, 2nd shooting for other amazing photographers, and shooting for a couple of studios, I managed to shoot a whopping 56 Weddings. You heard that right! 56 Weddings! That’s more than one wedding a week for the entire year. Except take that amount and squeeze them between the months of April through November, with a few sprinkled in from January through March. I also had 11 engagement sessions and 12 Portrait Sessions.

Lessons Learned & Looking Forward to 2020
Even though 2019 was a year for the record books, there are a few things that I have learned and will be changing going into 2020. First and foremost, I WILL NOT be shooting 56 weddings this year. As much as I enjoyed shooting every single wedding, I just can’t physically and/or mentally handle it. Wedding photography is a very physically demanding job and it definitely wear’s me down with all the stress and contortion style maneuvers that I sometimes have to make.
Second, I want to shoot more meaningfully and with purpose. I love working with people that love and appreciate photography as much as I do. As you can imagine, after working that many weddings, it can be very difficult to find something new and creative to do. My goal this year is to take on less but be more fulfilled creatively. I want to work with couple’s that are not afraid to think outside the box when it comes to their wedding photography. If you have a crazy idea don’t be afraid to run it by me. That can be anything from smoke bombs, shredding some powder in Summit County, going to the museum, or maybe even diving with sharks. I just have to learn how to dive first. 🙂
Third, no more double and triple header weekends (if I can help it). This goes back to point #1. Physically, it can be very exhausting to shoot multiple weddings in a weekend. There were quite a few of these weekends this past year and I can tell you for a fact that the Wedding Hangover is real! There were days that I could not get out of bed, was dehydrated and felt like I had been hit by a truck. It doesn’t do myself or my client’s any good if I can’t even get up to check my emails or messages. It can also take a toll on my equipment. Just like anything else, the more I use my camera’s and lenses, the faster something is likely to break.
One of the things I’m very excited about for this upcoming year is the chance to join a workshop organized by Two Mann Studios, who are considered some of the top wedding photographer’s in the world. So in May, I’ll be heading to Joshua Tree, California to join them in an epic 3 day wedding intensive workshop. It was an opportunity that I couldn’t pass up and I’ve only heard amazing things about them.
And Now This….
Now on to the good stuff and the moment you’ve all been waiting for. With so many photos to go through, it was no easy task to pick my favorite photos from the past year. This is not just portrait’s of couple’s on their wedding day. I try to focus on the emotions and fun things that also happen at a wedding. This could be special moments between the bride and her mom, guests having fun on the dance floor or other cultural traditions. These photos don’t even scratch the surface of what I would consider favorites. So here are just some of my favorite’s and the Best Wedding Photos of 2019 taken by me!
