Jessica & Caity | The Barn at Raccoon Creek Same-Sex Wedding | Colorado Wedding Photographer
Love is Love is Love is Love…
Happy Pride Month!! I feel so honored that Jessica & Caity trusted me to document their beautiful summer, same-sex wedding at The Barn at Raccoon Creek. Everything about their day was amazing and so much fun. I wanted to share their beautiful Colorado wedding just in time for them to celebrate their 1 year anniversary this month. If you haven’t seen the great photos from their 10 Barrel Brewery and RiNo District Engagement Session, go check that out here.
A Budding Build-A-Bear Romance
Jessica & Caity first met when they both worked at Build-A-Bear together. They both liked each other’s fun personalities and soon it was Jessica that asked Caity out for their first date. They were inseparable ever since and they knew it was meant to be when they both proposed to each other with the help of their families.
The day of the wedding couldn’t have been more perfect! We had clear skies and a beautiful sunny day. Jessica & her bridesmaids were getting ready in the Bridal Cottage which is right next to the main ceremony area. They had so much fun getting their hair and makeup done and hanging out together before the big event. Jessica’s dress was a gorgeous, rose colored ballgown that made her look like a true princess. Once they were all dressed, Jessica wanted to do a first look with her dad. I don’t think that there was a dry eye in the room as the father of the bride walked in to see his daughter for the first time in her wedding dress.
In the meantime, Caity and her bridesmaids were in the groom’s loft having the time of their lives, listening to music and taking a few shots. Caity’s bridal attire consisted of some awesome bright green dinosaur themed socks with some Converse high tops. She looked stunning once she was finished getting her dress on everyone else in the room agreed. After they were done getting ready, we had to sneak them over to the Bridal Cottage without Jessica seeing them. They were both going to be leaving the cottage for the big event.
The Main Event
The ceremony overlooked the Raccoon Creek Golf Course with some great views of the Rocky Mountains right behind it. Caity walked down the aisle first with her father and step-father and waited anxiously for Jessica to walk down the aisle. Jessica then arrived with her father to walk down the aisle towards Caity. The look on Caity’s face when she saw Jessica was priceless and you could see how much love they had for each other. It was so touching to see them exchange their vows and their unity ceremony was an homage to their Build-A-Bear days. They both put a heart into one of their own stuffed animals that they picked out for the ceremony. Caity also surprised Jessica, and everyone else, by lip syncing to a medley of love songs including Whitney Houston. It was very touching and entertaining.
After the ceremony, we took family and wedding party photos. Jessica and Caity are so lucky to be surrounded by so many people who love and support them. We then spent some time doing some fun couple’s portraits around the property just in time for them to be announced for the party. The toasts by both maid of honor’s were very moving and there wasn’t a dry eye in the room. Jessica shared a special dance with her dad and then it was Caity’s turn to dance with her dad. Just like her vows, it was not a typical father-daughter dance as they busted a move to some hip hop. In the middle of the reception, we snuck out for some night portraits in the courtyard and got a great shot of them under the string lights.
In the end, it turned out to be a wonderful evening for Jessica and Caity. They are a perfect match and I was so thrilled that I was there to document their love story.
